Buying dado rails for wall panelling

Our products include MDF and wood dado rails that can be bought individually or as part of a complete dado wall panelling kit.

They work well with a range of traditional wall panelling designs, such as shaker style and tongue and groove.

For humid rooms like bathrooms and kitchens, look for moisture-resistant MDF dado rails. This ensures they'll be resilient to the room's humidity and remain durable.

As well as adding character and acting as visual dividers, dado rails help to protect walls from daily wear and tear. For example, they're sometimes known as 'chair rails' because they can help to protect walls when people pull chairs back. Order today to get high-quality materials and products, delivered to your door with fast delivery.

Tips for adding wall panelling dado rails

While they can go at ceiling height, when combined with groove wall panels, dado rails often look best around a third of the way up a wall or at waist/chair height. This way, they act as a top cap for lower-wall panelling. With high ceilings, especially, they can help to balance out proportions.

Plus, by breaking up the space, a dado rail can add a sense of cosiness and intimacy to a room.

For easy installation, we suggest using a spirit level to check the dado rail is straight, then attach it to the wall with adhesive.

Then, once installed, they can be painted to match the wall's colours to seamlessly tie the room's design together.
