Beading

Tired of plain walls? Our full range of bead and butt panelling includes wall panelling kits and products that are cost-effective and easy to install. Choices include wood-effect designs and pre-primed panels, as well as some that are unprimed that act as a blank canvas.

Ribbed & Fluted

To introduce beautiful shadows and textures to your room, try ribbed panelling (with convex detailing) or fluted (concave).

Shaker

Symmetrical panelling in square or rectangular formations, known as shaker style, is a very classic and timeless look.

Tongue & Groove

Ideal for half-wall panelling in areas like hallways and bedrooms, tongue and groove panels add character and texture to rooms with a stylish finish. See our collection for traditional panelling styles to protect your walls, while adding a cosy look to your interiors.

MDF wall panelling sheets to enhance your home

Buying wall panelling sheets

The perfect way to elevate an otherwise simple space, decorative MDF wall panels work well in bedrooms, living rooms and hallways, but can be used almost anywhere in the home.

For kitchen and bathroom walls, look for moisture-resistant panels as these are designed to resist mould and remain durable, unlike natural wood which is likely to warp or rot. While it's best to avoid getting MDF panelling directly wet (so they shouldn't be used in wet areas like showers), the moisture resistance means they're well suited to walls in humid spaces.

As well as looking beautiful, panelling has the added advantage of covering imperfections, while also protecting walls from damage. For example, wainscoting helps to protect lower walls from scuffs.

While they may need the occasional dusting, the advantage of MDF wall panelling is it's durable and long-lasting, so generally low maintenance. Plus, it's typically a cheaper alternative to solid wood, making it an excellent cost-effective option.

With the option to get panels pre-primed, they can be very quick and easy to paint to match your room's colour scheme. And, as medium density fibreboard (MDF) has a smooth and even texture, it allows you to add uniform elements to a wall's design.

As an example, our v-groove wall panels are suitable for a range of rooms, including ones with moisture-resistant options for humid spaces. Using high-quality materials, our MDF panelling is designed to be durable with easy installation, while offering a professional finish.

Choosing the right panelling kits and products for your house

When deciding how to arrange the panelling, think carefully about what style panelling would best suit the space. The right choice will vary depending on a range of factors, such as the size and layout of a room, as well as the arrangement of furniture. If decorating an entire home, you might find you want a certain style of panelling in one room, and a different style in another.

For starters, consider whether half-height panelling would work well, or if you'd prefer floor to ceiling full-wall coverage. High-traffic areas like hallways and staircases can suit wainscoting, which covers the lower part of a wall. In larger rooms like living rooms and dining rooms, you could alternatively add full feature walls.

Either way, the clean lines and textures introduced with panels are excellent ways to create focal points. They very quickly add depth to rooms and liven up the existing surfaces of plain walls.

As we explain in more detail below, you can easily install them at home with adhesive. Just make sure you measure the walls carefully and use a spirit level to check they are in the right place.

To get started, compare our range of wall panelling sheets, which come in a range of styles and sizes to suit your budget and dimensions.

Top tip: If you're choosing between vertical or horizontal panelling, think about the size and layout of the room. For example, vertical grooves can help to give the illusion of height in a room, while horizontal ones can make spaces feel wider. Under natural light, the shadows along the edges of each groove help to enhance these details.

Tips to install wall panels

Wall panelling installation is easy when you know how.

Start by accurately measuring your walls and planning out the panelling layout.

Then, smooth down your walls by sanding over any rough areas, and you can then install the panels with adhesive.

We explain the process in more detail in our video tutorial.

For a simple project, you could potentially install the panelling in one or two days. However, larger and more complex panelling can take longer.
